Engineers & Artists brings together four NYC artists, three engineers, and students of Verizon Innovative Learning Schools to collaborate on original new works of art.
Inspired by conversations on the digital divide and climate protection, the artists focused on the following themes: The Urgency of Now, Visualizing Our Carbon Footprint, Creative Solutions for a Cleaner Tomorrow, Transforming Everyday Habits, and the Technological Evolution of Climate Change.
At a time when many still deny the urgent need for climate action, Engineers & Artists, a national art program commissioned by Verizon, endeavors to give future-positive voices as big a platform as possible. That’s why we are projecting the art -- nearly 20,000 square feet -- onto an iconic skyscraper in downtown Manhattan during the week of the 2019 UN Climate Change Summit.
We are at a crossroads with identifying and addressing climate change and its effects on the world, both in our backyard and abroad.
Innovation at every level - corporate, individual, community, government - is paramount to solving this and other global challenges. It starts with how we learn, work, and approach problem solving. Engineers & Artists seeks to use the power of its participants’ unique perspectives, creativity, and process to help the public experience a new view of issues and solutions inherent in a changing climate. In asking participants to explore new ways of thinking about their work and each other’s practices, the hope is to generate new understandings, artistic approaches, and solutions to inspire action.
